UWE BLOG: 2021: YEAR 2: SEMESTER 2: DRAWING & PRINT (BA Hons): TIN STANTON
This blog contains highlights of my 2nd year at UWE, and includes ideas, discoveries and works which I feel are relevant to the course made both inside and out of the studio, as well as outlining the processes I have learned.
The blog also includes my 'Studio File' ( A collection of personally influential artists and recent gallery visits) as well as my Professional Practice experiences.
A couple of my prints have been featured in the April Fish virtual exhibition, and I now get to see them in print. Based around more unusual and humorous works of art the exhibition began on April 1st online and featured 16 international artists.
I am proud to have a couple of my works included in Birmingham based Round Lemon's April Fish Virtual Exhibition. The online exhibition's theme is humour, specifically around the trials and tribulations of lockdown living.
A month or so ago I was approached online (by a follower on Facebook) to paint a memorial sphere; a 6.5kg silhouetted steel ball which will hang outside.
Initially I was slightly worried about taking on the commission, but the client assured me they would handle the waterproofing and transport, so all I needed to worry about was the painting itself.
I started with a rough digital proposal which the client was more than happy with, then through discussion and a little trial and error I finished it off as you see here, quite similar to the digital plan but with the addition of real gold and silver.
