Digital art versus digital editing
I want to start including more photography and digital artworks into my portfolio, but I have quite strong personal beliefs about digital art, as the term can be misused and misunderstood. I believe true digital art should be drawn entirely by the creator. In all art forms we use tools, shortcuts and effect to produce our work, so selecting a variety of brushes or using cloning tools and so on still fits into the realm of true digital art.
The second picture on this pages shows a true digital artwork.
The first picture is a combination of a photograph and a digital drawing. As I took the photograph and did all the editing and subsequent drawing, I am happy to call this an original digital artwork, but I would call it a digital mixed media artwork.
I'm already planning another digital mixed media piece using some London photos.
