Had a workshop with John France today, who had already asked us to watch some short video clips and use them as inspiration. Then, working at around 5ft square I upscaled my original drawing onto Fabriano paper with acrylics (which I had created roughly from a photograph I took in Iceland).
My piece speaks of childhood, using the kite as reference to that and to lead you to the small character on the to of the waterfall. The kite also adds a pop of colour, as well as having a focal point for the whole picture.
It was a very energetic painting to complete - partly owing to its size. There are still a few details to work on, but otherwise this is a piece I'm very pleased with.
