INFLUENTIAL ARTIST: Pierre Bonnard 1867–1947

We were shown some of Pierre Bonnard's work during a colour talk, and while I find his style way too 'messy' and noisy on the eyes, the colour combinations are intriguing, using colours together that I wouldn't have imagined would sit well together.

As with many artists (and something I'm pulling into my own work) when Pierre Bonnard uses colour he tends to carry colours across the canvas, pulling the entire scene together. Even in quite subdued portraits he manages to incorporate greens and reds across the canvas, giving the light an extraordinary cast.
