Berlin born Kilpper is a very politically driven artist and printmaker, which is not why he interest me - its more about the scale of his works. Some of his prints are the size of entire rooms, or even bigger - metres in each direction. This is something that has begun to fascinate me - not only painting much larger, which I am now starting to be accustomed to, but also the prospect of printing on this scale.
Kilpper's style is all about getting his message across, and to my eye the designs are busy and hard to see as a whole. The more I see work that appears busy, the more I realise that my own interest lay in a much more calm and simplified place - not without passion, but without as much busy anger as Kilpper's works.
