influential artist - henry wallis - 1930-1916

Henry Wallis played a huge part in the winning the commission for the Thomas Chatterton Memorial, organised by UWE and The Chatterton Society in Bristol.

Not so much influenced but inspired by Henry Wallis's depiction of The Death of Chatterton, I spent some considerable time with this painting. It immediately seemed almost obvious as a choice to 're-imagine' as it has such a strong story already, which I could almost flip on it's head, producing a story of hope and life rather than the sadness and death portrayed here.
