JUDITH TUCKER
I hadn't heard of Judith Tucker before stumbling excitedly on her work in The Millennium Gallery, Sheffield. Her display was of her 'Fitties' paintings of humble dwellings just outside Cleethorpes, and I had never seen an entire collection of paintings that I loved quite so much before. The use of light, the silent darkness, the atmospheric unease, the abandonment; it all excited me a great deal.
I saw a lot of my own work in hers, though I don't have the bravery she has displayed in some of her techniques. Truly inspirational for me to see work I am, if I'm honest, envious of.
