I am still working on content and style for my own personal work and message. Landscapes with the odd piece of architecture or architectural feature are appealing to me at the moment, so I'm sketching out ideas in different styles and mediums to get a feel for how much or little detail I can work with.
As a viewer I love the abstract in skies and clouds, and rough strokes - but my own style tends to force me toward full figurative paintings with far too many details and additional content that may not be needed.
I have, until quite recently, been forcing my narrative ideas too hard - making the viewer see my bluntly obvious point of view instead of allowing them to discover the feeling of the picture for themselves. The narrative, or mood is still an important part of my work, but I am trying to loosen it up a little.
